SoCal Premier DOMINANCE continues

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is the longest running competition in the United States soccer landscape, and is also its most prestigious. This knockout competition run by U.S. Soccer and its affiliates is open to any organized team in the U.S. from the amateur or professional level. While the professional teams are added to the completion in the later stages of the knockout round, the amateur sides must go through what at times can be a grueling, difficult, and long qualification process.

For a team at our level in the American Soccer Pyramid to qualify, they must battle it out in a regional qualifier that encompasses teams from 14 states. Our qualifying region is one of the largest and most populated in the country, and Southern California alone is major hotbed of talent. Each year from those 14 states, only two teams move on to the U.S. Open Cup proper. Of the 8 total berths automatically available to our region from 2011-2014, SoCal Premier has won 5 of them. We did this by having a teams advance in 2011, 2012, 2013 (TWO TEAMS), and 2014.

In 2015 the trend will continue, and Chula Vista FC of the SoCal Premier U23 division will have their name in the drawing for first round pairings come next year. They have earned this right by being the top team in the most recent regional qualifier. This is a wonderful accomplishment by Chula Vista FC, and another testament to the quality, and longevity of our organization. No league in Southern California, and few leagues across the nation can boast these kinds of statistics. SoCal Premier is dedicated to continuing this quality of play year after year!
